The north end of Superstition Mountain

Superstition Mountain is just to the east of Apache Junction, AZ.

The shot is from about a half-mile short of the base of the mountain. On the far left side is a small Teddy Bear cholla next to a Palo Verde tree. The green bushes are mostly Creosote and the things that look like poles are actually juvenile saguaros (meaning that they’re something less than about 50 or 60 years old). The path in the foreground goes up to the rocks that are right at the edge of the shadow line.

It was 65 degrees when we started out, so a nice morning to be out and about. Posted by Picasa
