Hoover Dam from the parking garage

There's a line of cars winding down the highway from Arizona. By the time we headed back, the line stretched miles. The time was about 6:30 PM when we left the garage, but it was just after 5:30 by the time we drove up that hill...

More of a window than an arch or bridge...

Different view of the rock formation.

The other side of the road

I took this from the same spot as the one below, just looking the other way. Quite a long way down and a long view to the east as well. Mt. Lemmon is over 9,000' and Tucson is less than 3,000' in elevation. Mt. Lemmon is also about 30 degrees cooler at the top.

Siphon Draw, part two

The "Basin"

The trail, looking west toward Phoenix...

Leapin' lizard! (Not really, but the little bugger's fast!)

The end of the ocotillo blooms, the beginning of the saguaro's season.

Prickly blooms.

Pretty flowers, but if you think rose thorns are a pain...!
The flatiron....

Lost Dutchman State Park, Siphon Draw trail

Hiking on the Siphon Draw trail.....

Where the Siphon Draw trail splits off from the Discovery trail. Nice, wide, marked...

Closing in on the mountain.

Not so nice, wide or marked....

Getting up toward the Basin, about 1,000' and a mile and a half along the trail.
