The Superstitions, south side

We took advantage of being on the south end of the mountains to go visit the Peralta trailhead, which is set below this wonderful cliff.

Welcome to the Arizona Renaissance

Greeted by a Cavelier...

And a wizard....

Lots of festive dancing and music...

Not to mention birds of prey...

And rides for the kids....

All set in a desert with a wonderful backdrop of mountains...

I didn't take pictures, but there were also lots of vendors for everything from costumes to turkey drumsticks to incense and custom shoes... Belly dancing, comics, archers, jousting, troubadours and balladeers. Lords and ladies, a Fool, pirates, swashbucklers, and on and on...

Boeing sunrise

Things get a bit surreal some mornings. This is looking east toward the Superstitions from the Boeing parking lot.

Sunset

I pulled to the side of the road, hopped out, put the camera at arm's length above my head and pushed the button. Not bad considering how unstable it was... I really like that saguaro. It has character.

Beautiful bird

I love to hear the warbirds rumble, and I'm fortunate enough to live near a Commemorative Air Force base. This beauty lives there and came right over the house last week. Yesterday we saw it again, but I didn't have the camera close to hand. Too bad, as we saw it flying over Red Mountain, and it could have been a great picture...

The mirror...

This giant mirror is mounted inside the Convention Center inside downtown Phoenix. Very cool.
